It was time for a new project
New seasons of life will always mean shifting my locus of creativity. You know what they say: melodramatic novels in high school give way to substacks for new moms
Why this, why now?
I somehow have more time than ever and less time than ever. More time nap-trapped, less time with both hands free. More space to think and less time to do anything with it. Going from a very intellectually stimulating life to parenting an infant by myself all day has my brain whirring in circles (and leaving far too many long comments on the internet, despite my best efforts). I know many people over the last few years have encouraged me to write a blog or start a podcast. I am hoping to hold myself to a higher standard here, and to maybe create something for you as well.
What will you be writing?
Lord knows. The sub stack prompts say to be super clear about your niche. Unfortunately for that advice, I write what I like to read, which is slice of life meditations. Maybe you’ll get a recipe or a book review, maybe (certainly!) you’ll get drawn out thoughts on the theology of the body and sacramental worldviews. I’ll call it a sub stack of musings and meditations, although socioreligiocultural commentary might be more accurate. David advised I try to weed out unnecessary wordiness though.
I’ll be writing one post a week for the time being, likely posting on Fridays. I know there’s a paid feature on here, which I will only utilize down the road if I end up super famous 😉 for now then, enjoy my free hot takes
